Expectations were a little too high for the shuttle bus service taking people from the Quinte Mall parking lot over to Belleville Senators games at the Yardmen Arena.
The city is operating the service and had projected an average of 400 riders a game, but in the 9 Senators home games so far, the average number of riders on the shuttle buses has been 230.
However, the ridership is trending higher.
The service, which the city hoped would be revenue neutral has lost almost $7,000 so far.
The loss would have been a lot more but sponsors Meta Employment and the Senators themselves provided another $6,000.
In the new year, the service is proposed to be scaled back and is only projected to lose a little over $4,000 over 23 games.
However, the city is looking for two more sponsors and there’s a possibility the shuttle could actually make a little money.
