A petition is being circulated online, about getting a Kidney Treatment Centre in Quinte West.
A local doctor, David Weinstein, who specializes in kidney treatment, has started a petition on www.change.org to get a dialysis centre in Trenton.
The nephrologist writes that the benchmark for a kidney disease patient to see a physician is 30 minutes or less, within the boundaries of the Southeast LHIN.
Weinstein argues for 40 percent of patients locally, that is not a reality.
The goal of the petition is to get the Ontario Renal Network to support the development of a Regional Chronic Kidney Disease Centre at TMH.
Weinstein says the creation of a proposed health hub in Trenton would make a perfect location for that clinic.
