Expanding partnerships and more opportunities for students.
That was the announcement from Belleville Police Chief Ron Gignac and Dr. Ann Maire Vaughan, the President of Loyalist College.
Gignac said on Thursday morning in his office the Police Service is looking to enhance their relationship and expand their footprint with the college.
Dr. Vaughan says this will allow for more students to get a glimpse into the world of police services.
Gignac says they want to go beyond the status quo.
He told those in attendance that relationship-based policing is one of his key priorities.
He said some areas in which the two organizations are looking at partnering include human resources, journalism, corporate communications, marketing and of course, justice studies.
On hand at the announcement were students Paige Summers, Brooke Babcock and Ben Coll. All three agreed the learning experience they’ve gained with the Police Service has been eye opening and it shows them the difference police can make in the community.
