The Quinte West Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers for the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.
Captain Rob Hardy spoke to council Monday night to make a pitch for people to take on some volunteer shifts during the campaign, which runs until December 23rd.
Hardy says volunteers are needed to fill about 150, two-hour shifts, with the goal of raising $85,000.
Last year’s campaign raised $87,000, but Hardy says the group doesn’t want to put too much pressure on the community, with many people facing tight financial situations.
The Kettle Campaign supports a number of Salvation Army initiatives including the food bank, meal programs, cooking and budget classes, first aid and food handling training and others.
If you’re interested in volunteering, you can call Captain Hardy anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., at 613-403-3152.
