An inquest has been ordered into the death of an inmate at the Quinte Detention Centre in 2015.
Jason John Briand died on October 22nd, 2015.
According to a Kingston newspaper, he had pleaded guilty in January of that year, after stealing a woman’s wallet at a bingo hall in that city and using her debit card to take $175.
At the time he had been sentenced to 101 days of time served and had a probation order extended, due to his lengthy criminal record.
The inquest will take place on January 8th, 2018, at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee, under inquest coroner Dr. David Eden.
The proceedings are expected to last three days, with seven witnesses being called to testify.
