A Belleville Police Constable was awarded the Ontario Medal for Police Bravery at Queen’s Park last night.
Constable Matt Sweet was presented with the medal by Lieutenant-Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell and Belleville Police Chief Ron Gignac.
He received the honour for risking his life by outracing a train in Belleville, jumping to the tracks, and then pulled the woman to safety.
Constable Sweet’s father, Staff Sergeant Tom Sweet, also works for the Belleville Police Service.
