A pair of basketball stars have been named the Loyalist Lancers’ players of the week, after both the men and women picked up weekend wins over the Algonquin Thunder, in Ottawa.
Rookie guard Angelo Sarsonas is the men’s basketball leading scorer, with 114 points in nine games.
His speed, ball handling abilities and work ethic helped push the Lancers to their dominating 89-59 victory over Algonquin.
Fifth year veteran Katie Wiggins is the women’s athlete of the week, after knocking down 17 points and grabbing four rebounds in her team’s 65-62 win over the Thunder.
