The good news is that the vast majority of people in our listening area have a primary care provider such as a family doctor or nurse practitioner.
Quinte Health Care’s Board of Directors heard that around 95% of the population has a primary care provider, higher than the provincial average.
The bad news is that well over half of the people report having trouble getting timely appointments.
Meanwhile, the board also heard that our region had much higher smoking and alcohol abuse rates than the provincial average, increasing demands on the healthcare system.
