You may have noticed a tree in the Bayview Mall that is decorated with name tags.
It’s all part of a new program that is aimed at helping give high risk seniors who live in isolation a Christmas.
This is the first year of the Christmas for Seniors program.
Donna McFaul is a nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses and says all people need to do is visit the Senior’s Tree at the east end mall and grab a tag.

As a nurse in the city and a volunteer with the VON she said she saw a need and thought of the program and says her son actually helped with the idea as to how to get this started.
McFaul said they started with a goal of helping 40 seniors, but that goal was met within a day and a half so they set a new goal of helping 500 seniors.
They are working adding more tags to the tree and that information will go up on the Facebook page.
As to what they are looking for as gift suggestions, McFaul says they are looking for simple things.
