A local team who won a tournament. That sounds like something you might hear Sports Director Jack Miller read 30-40 times a year. Well, it happened again this past weekend however, the stage was a little different.
The Quinte West Atom A Hawks were in downtown Toronto, taking part in the PlayStation Platinum Cup, put on by Sony and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The teams were only allowed in the tournament following an application process.
They played their games at the Mastercard Centre, home of the Leafs and Toronto Marlies practice facilities.
The Hawks played six games and were undefeated in the tourney, defeating the Vaughn Panthers 1-0 in the finals.
The teams also had a chance to go to the Air Canada Centre to take in the Toronto Maple Leafs practice on Saturday. They had a chance to hear from Toronto Maple Leafs Executive Brendan Shanahan and Lou Lamoriello, GM of the Buds.
