A private member’s bill calling for all single-serve coffee pods sold in Ontario to be compostable has passed second reading in the legislature.
PC Norm Miller’s bill must now go before committee hearings and face another vote before it has a chance of becoming law.
Some municipalities say their waste systems aren’t yet able to process compostable coffee pods.
But Miller says his bill would take effect in four years and the government could help municipalities adjust during that time.
