A Trenton steel fabrication company has been fined $55,000 for an incident that left a worker with permanent injuries.
Frazier Industrial Company — which was operating as Fracan — was convicted under the Industrial Establishments Regulation in connection with the March 2016 incident.
Court heard a worker was moving a bundle of steel using an overhead crane, when an outer steel strut in the bundle moved inward, causing crushing injuries to the worker.
A Ministry of Labour investigation revealed that it was common for the steel struts to shift while being moved by overhead cranes.
