The OPP Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad is investigating an inmate assault at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.
Details of the assault weren’t released, but Correctional Service of Canada Spokesman Kyle Lawlor says the victim was taken to an outside hospital for treatment and that the “assailants have been identified and appropriate actions have been taken”.
The Warden has put a lockdown in place so a full search of the facility can take place and visits have been suspended until further notice.
Normal operations will resume once staff consider the facility to be safe again.
