Belleville has already started the wheels turning on the 2018 municipal election and the city is dealing with a number of changes.
City clerk Matt MacDonald says it takes a year to get ready and the changes in the election rules, announced by the province earlier this year, are an issue for staff.
MacDonald says the general public won’t notice much difference, but staff will be looking out for a number of changes.
For instance, there are new rules about corporation and trade unions donations.
He says “There are some grey areas as far as I’m concerned.”
He says people are already signing up for training to work the election.
The municipal election will be held the fourth Monday of October, 2018.
