A local MPP is hopeful that students at Belleville’s Loyalist College can be back in the classroom by Tuesday.
Prince Edward Hastings MPP Todd Smith tells Quinte News that he is expecting the majority of Queen’s Park will vote in favour of back-to-work legislation for 12,000 college faculty members.
Smith says there is reason to be frustrated with the Liberals and the NDP on the delay for students.
He says a vote will likely take place Sunday, which means students could be back Tuesday or Wednesday.
He says the NDP are closely aligned with organized labour, therefore it makes sense for them to be cautious with approving back to work legislation.
Smith says student visas, placements and summer work could be affected because of the strike.
