Work continues in an effort to bring a new homeless shelter to Belleville.
This week on the Lorne Brooker Show, Grace Inn Shelter Board Chair Jodie Jenkins talked to David Foot about getting set to retrofit the former Irish Hall on Church Street.
A community group has purchased the hall and is transforming it into a shelter.
Jenkins says the facility is 6,000 square feet, but they cannot house as many people as are needed.
He says they need this facility and service and they need it now.
He says there is a lot of red tape which has slowed the process on opening the building.
Support for the project has been done through a local builder’s purchase of the site.
Grace Inn Shelter will cost about $330,000 to retrofit.
