The kettles are back!
The Salvation Army launched its 2017 Christmas Kettle Campaign Wednesday morning at the Belleville BDIA office.
Through December 23rd, volunteers and their kettles will be accepting monetary donations at dozens of locations around the city.
This year’s goal is to raise $175,000.
Salvation Army volunteer co-ordinator Deb Scott says every dollar goes back into the community.
And, in a sight that hasn’t been seen in decades, the kettles are returning to the downtown.
Scott calls it a win-win for the Salvation Army and the downtown.
Scott says usually volunteers receive a certificate of appreciation but this year, they’ll also receive some coupons and vouchers to spend in the downtown.
The BDIA’s Hazel Loyst says many businesses have already stepped up to support the program, including a couple of businesses with unique challenges.
Kettle Volunteers are still needed.
