A Belleville police officer suffered a cut hand after being assaulted early last evening by a drunk man.
Police responded shortly after 7 o’clock after reports of a man stumbling on North Front Street.
While trying to arrest the man, an officer was assaulted.
A 42 year old Belleville man was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats and breach of probation.
He is in for a bail hearing today.
