A bus of a different kind will be picking up public transit users in Belleville for the next six weeks.
Belleville Transit will be testing a BYD ebus, a battery-electric vehicle 7 days a week and on every bus route and at
various times of the day.
Chair of Belleville Transit, councillor Jack Miller
Anyone finding themselves boarding the ebus won’t have to pay for the ride, but it’s hoped people will comment on their impressions of the bus.
Battery-electric buses are very quiet and produce zero greenhouse gas emissions but cost quite a bit more than conventional diesel buses. It’s expected the up front cost will be paid off through savings on gas over the years.
