Centre Hastings council is waiting on some more information before putting another well online to serve residents in the town of Madoc.
A deep test well on the far west side of Madoc has consistently proved to have lots of flow, but the water has unacceptable levels of antimony and arsenic.
Other wells in Madoc have shown similar results.
The antimony and arsenic can be removed with a treatment system and council is waiting on further information on that.
A treatment system could cost as much as $300,000.
It’s hoped the new well could come online next year, and will serve as a backup to Madoc’s main well.
