The Belleville and District Shrine Club and in turn the Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal received a nice gift from some local breweries and wineries today (Saturday).
Belleville Shriners received a $3,500 cheque on behalf of the kids’ hospital, from Sandbanks and Bergeron Estate wineries, Signal Brewery, Napanee Beer Company, and Prince Edward Brewing Co., Empire Cheese and Butter Co-op, and Maple Dale Cheese.
The food and beverage companies served up their specialties in the Ale and Cheddar Trail Room as part of the 68th annual Belleville and District Shrine Club hockey tournament.
This year’s tournament involved 26 bantam and minor bantam teams from throughout the province at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
The $3,500 donation was accepted by Belleville Shriner John Neil, who now serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Montreal Shriners Hospital for Children.
Since 1925, the hospital has provided ultra specialized care for children with various bone diseases.
