Hastings Prince Edward launched its influenza immunization program this week and paid tribute to a longtime nurse who has given nearly 200,000 of those shots.
Sharon Dracup has spent more than 49 years with the health unit and given 196,000 flu needles.
In paying tribute at the Board of Health meeting Wednesday, program manager Bill Sherlock emphasized the importance of the immunization.
And he said there are others who benefit from the flu shot.
Sherlock noted the immunization is publicly funded.
The flu shot clinics run throughout the two counties until December 7.
