College students from across Ontario will stage a protest rally at Queen’s Park in Toronto this week, as the strike by their teachers continues, but the Loyalist Student Government won’t be there.
In a published report, president of the College Student Alliance, Joel Willett, says students are worried about losing the semester if the strike drags on.
Willett says they are also concerned the year could instead be extended, adding to expenses and interfering with job plans.
President of the Loyalist College Student Government, C-Jay Stark, says the student government will not be participating “since it’s neutral.”
Stark points out the organization has been holding fun events for students and the college has its own events.
The teachers hit the picket lines October 16, fighting for 50% of teachers to be full time, as well as improvement in wages.
