Some major decisions may be coming up soon regarding the case of a former Belleville businessman regarding the near million dollars he owes Hastings County.
Earlier this year a lawyer for Hastings County met with Jim Sinclair in Detroit for an examination hearing to determine his assets and what could be recovered.
CAO Jim Pine tells Quinte News that right now his office is looking through material before a meeting coming up in a couple of weeks.
He says one consideration is the money being spent on the effort to gain money from Sinclair.
But Pine says it’s still too soon to decide whether or not to stop the search for assets.
The $750,000 fines levied against Sinclair and his companies, Demolition and Recycling Inc. and Thermosets Ltd are for environmental charges related to excavations at the former Bakelite property in Belleville’s east end.
