A kids’ hideaway hangout burned up in a smoky brush fire in the supper hour yesterday in Belleville.
The Belleville Fire Department responded at 6:15 to a scrub brush area off the end of Victoria Avenue in the far east of urban Belleville.
Firefighters had to carry hoses and a portable pump over half a kilometre to where the fire was.
A nearby creek was used as a water source.
The fire was doused quickly, but burned up a fort kids had built there.
No one was injured.
