Statistics Canada is out with data on home ownership gleaned from the national census taken last year.
Nationally, almost 68% of residences are owned, with the rest being rented.
In an area including Belleville and Quinte West south of the 401, 61% of residences are owned by the residents.
There’s a different picture in Prince Edward County, where home ownership is much higher.
Out of a total of 10,730 households in the county, 8,815 or 83%, are owned.
