New money from the Liberal government at Queen’s Park is going to have a positive effect on local healthcare.
Hospitals province-wide will share in an extra 100 million dollars this fiscal year, and Quinte Health Care will receive just over 1 million dollars.
QHC CEO Mary Clare Egberts says the new money will mean an extra 15 beds. They will be located at Belleville General Hospital, which provides specialist services for the entire region.
The new beds will be in place in the very near future. The provincial government also provided extra money for home care services and supportive housing for seniors.
