The Quinte community has come together to raise big money to help students eat healthy.
Last month, the Take a Bite Out of Hunger campaign saw over $6500 raised for Food for Learning student nutrition programs in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Donations were accepted at cash registers across the area as shoppers made grocery purchases.
The initiative was created by Loyalist College Public Relations Students as a part of their course requirement.
Community Development Coordinator for Food for Learning Vicky Struthers says the goal of the campaign is to “increase the awareness of student nutrition programs in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, while raising much needed funds to support these programs in our region.”
