Belleville’s in a position of having jobs available but not the “human capital.”
A recent job fair in Belleville shone the light on a real issue in the area, according to Belleville’s Mayor Taso Christopher.
He told the Economic Development Commission Tuesday that 50 employers attended the fair with 1,000 jobs available and only 400 were taken.

Christopher says the “silver lining is there are opportunities for the Sears workers” who will be losing jobs soon.
Belleville’s Economic Development Manager Karen Poste told the meeting “there is a high probability of work for Sears employees.” She says workers should call or email city hall and their resumes will be sent out for job possibilities.
