Dukes continue their roll with win over Panthers
The Wellington Dukes got multi-point games from five different players as they breezed past the Pickering Panthers 6-1 Friday night.
Teddy McGeen and Mitchell Martan led the way with four points, Mitchell Mendonca recorded three points, Colin Doyle and Ben Evans each chipped in with two each.
Creed Jones made 20 saves on 21 shots for the victory.
The Dukes record is now an OJHL-best 12-1-1-4 on the season so far.
Late comeback falls short for Trenton
Another home game, another comeback that fell short for the Trenton Golden Hawks in a 4-3 loss to the Newmarket Hurricanes.
Rex Moe scored twice, Michael Silveri added one and Brandon Marinelli recorded two assists.
Shaun Bily and Mac Lewis also added helpers.
Carson Poulin stopped 21 of 25 shots in the loss.
The G-Hawks and Dukes meet up Sunday afternoon for the first of four “Battle of Quinte” matchups on the schedule this season. Game time 2 p.m., it’s also “Pink in the Rink” day at Essroc Arena in Wellington in support of cancer research.
Raiders blast Islanders
In Jr. C action, the Napanee Raiders laid a 10-1 beatdown on the visiting Gananoque Islanders.
Ryan Casselman, Josh Murphy and Austin Labelle all notched three points each to pace the Napanee attack.
Nicholas Nabuurs had an easy night in net, yielding 10 of 11 shots that went his direction.
The rematch between these two teams goes at 7 p.m. Sunday night in Gananoque.
