LOYALIST COLLEGE REMAINS OPEN DURING FACULTY STRIKE
UPDATE MONDAY 5 PM Loyalist College has issued this statement: The Union representing faculty at Ontario colleges has commenced a legal strike, which began on October 16. Loyalist College will remain open during the strike but no regular daytime classes will be held for post-secondary or apprenticeship programs. Some online courses and Continuing Education classes will continue. Visit loyalistfocus.com for more information.
Loyalist will continue to offer Student Success services, Student Success Mentors, Peer Tutoring, Athletics and Campus Life, Student Life, Career Centre and facilities like labs and study areas. During this time, students are encouraged to catch up on work, complete homework assignments, review material and continue with their textbook readings and research projects. Contingency plans will be in place for students to complete their studies. No Ontario college student has ever lost a year because of a strike.

Faculty at 24 Ontario colleges, including Loyalist College, have gone on strike, affecting more than 500,000 students.
190 Loyalist faculty, members of the Ontario Public Services Employees Union are on strike and are delaying any vehicles that are entering the college.
OPSEU says the two sides could not resolve their differences ahead of the midnight Sunday strike deadline.
There is no indication yet when talks might resume.
