The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site is helping people learn to preserve and protect their family heirlooms.
A special event, “Preserve and Protect” will be held at Glanmore National Historic Site.
The idea is to encourage the public to showcase their family treasures while discovering ways to ensure their long-term preservation.
Local heritage professionals will be prepared to answer questions, give advice and demonstrate how to best care for personal treasures such as furniture, books, ceramics, metal objects, framed art, documents, photographs, quilts and clothing. A selection of conservation materials to aid in preservation will be available for purchase.
This is the second time Glanmore has offered this event. During the 2016 event advice was given on how to care for a 100-year-old wedding dress, a silver tea set, a prize winning crochet blanket, an oil painting, quilts, photo albums, diaries and more.
Preserve and Protect will take place at Glanmore National Historic Site from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
