Over the past week a rash of thefts from UNLOCKED vehicles have been reported by residents in the Town of Picton.
The suspects engage in what is known as “car hopping” where they walk by vehicles and pull on the door handles. Once they find an unlocked vehicle they rummage through looking for cash and valuables. These thefts typically occur overnight but can happen during the day as well.
This is a preventable crime by taking some simple steps when you leave your vehicle unattended.
Remove valuables and loose change from your vehicle and lock the doors.
