There’s a new sheriff in Stirling-Rawdon.
At 6 p.m. yesterday, Central Hastings OPP officially took over all policing duties in the community of 5,000.
Stirling-Rawdon Police officers will continue being part of the policing community.
On Monday, they will begin four weeks of training at the Provincial Police Academy in Orillia.
This training will help ensure their transition is a smooth one as they join the members at the Central Hastings Detachment.
Central Hastings OPP Staff Sergeant Scott Semple says Stirling Rawdon Chief Dario Cecchin “has handled the disbandment of the Stirling-Rawdon Police Service in a truly professional manner and with the best interest of the residents of Stirling-Rawdon.”
He also says he looks forward to working in the community to ensure adequate policing needs in the area.
All policing services for Stirling-Rawdon can now be obtained at the Central Hastings OPP Detachment located at 105953 Highway 7 in Madoc.
