The police-community partnership “Give Where You Live” is heading into the final days of a week-long campaign at Hastings and Prince Edward elementary schools.
About 15 local police and OPP officers, along with community volunteers, are visiting elementary schools, spreading a message of volunteerism and raising money for Camp Trillium.
This is the first year for Give Where You Live, which grew out of the original Pedal for Hope.
Spokesperson Constable Jeremy Ashley, of Belleville Police Service. says the name change reflects fundraising for various charities.
Ashley says, “it’s a crazy gong show when they arrive at the schools.”
Camp Trillium is a camp for children with cancer, and their families, situated on West Lake. Ashley says the fundraising goal is $10,000, but he expects they will raise more than that.
Give Where You Live winds up on Friday with a BBQ at Canadian Tire store.
