OPP officers, Prince Edward County firefighters, and equipment and personnel from 424 Squadron search and rescue have been busy helping hunters in distress this weekend.
Saturday, OPP and Wellington firefighters helped two hunters stranded in a boat with a broken motor on West Lake.
And, late yesterday morning, Ameliasburgh ward firefighters used a boat to rescue a stranded hunter on an island in the Bay of Quinte near Massassauga Point.
The 39 year old Trenton man told rescuers that another hunter he’d been out with had been missing for several hours and so was the boat they were using.
A 424 Squadron helicopter began searching and located the other man hanging onto a sinking boat near Point Anne. The 51 year old Belleville man was taken to hospital for treatment of exposure.
There were no other injuries.
