Belleville city council is expected to take another step toward making the city more conducive to an active lifestyle.
At its meeting tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday), council will be asked to approve a tender from Cooney Excavating Ltd. to build a 3 metre pedestrian/cycling path in the west end of the city.
Cooney’s tender came in at $480,000, the lowest of four, for a cycling path along Bridge Street West, from Yeomans Street to Centennial Park, which is just west of Palmer Road.
Council has committed a total of $2.8 million to build a pedestrian/cycling network.
Belleville council meets at 4 o’clock at City Hall tomorrow afternoon.
