It looks as though the Sears warehouse and store in Belleville are not closing.
Wednesday in Ontario Superior Court, the company obtained an extension of its creditor protection, until November 7th.
11 more stores, plus another 59 originally announced in June, are expected to close.
The Belleville Sears store in the Quinte Mall and the warehouse in the city’s industrial park are still open.
Liquidation of the closing stores could begin in the next two weeks.
In a deal with the debtor in possession of financing, Sears must sign a liquidation agreement Saturday and get court approval next week, or risk a default.
