The Director of the Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against any Peterborough Police Service officer in relation to a shooting incident last year.
Tony Loparco announced today that there won’t be charges in the shooting that caused injuries to 26-year-old John Lai at a Peterborough residence in March of 2016.
Lai had fatally stabbed a woman just prior to the shooting
The SIU is an agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
