A new hospital for Prince Edward County is still more than seven years away, however plans continue to move forward in the long submission stage.
At Tuesday night’s board meeting, Chief Financial Officer Brad Harrington updated members on the project.
A new hospital will be built on the site of the current building in Picton, with the opening slated sometime around 2025.
QHC CEO Mary Clare Egberts says they have signed off on a Stage 1 submission, which will go to the Southeast LHIN and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for approval.
She says that 500 page document will include the site selection, the services the hospital will offer, a space plan and a cost estimate.
It is expected to come in around $65 million.
