A Belleville councillor would like some light shone on the lighting around Hastings County’s own housing projects.
Councillor Mitch Panciuk told council that a recent nighttime patrol along with Belleville police officers opened his eyes to a lot of things, including the poor lighting surrounding Hastings County assisted housing projects.
Panciuk said the darkness could lead to increased criminal activity.

Councillor Garnet Thompson, who sits on the Hastings County Social Services Committee said it wasn’t the first time that concerns about the lighting around the apartment buildings and townhouse developments had been raised.
He’ll take the concerns back to committee and report back to council.
