A major housing development in the west end of Belleville will look a little different if the city’s Planning Advisory Committee approves a rezoning application at it’s meeting Monday.
Phases 7 and 8 of the Potters Creek sub division west of Avondale Road and north of Dundas West had originally been approved for 114 residential units, consisting of 110 single family houses and 4 townhouses back in 2008.
Now, due to market forces, the developers hope to put more residences on the same land.
They have asked for rezoning to allow for a total of 153 units, consisting of 62 single detached, 44 semi detached, 14 duplexes, and 33 townhouses.
City of Belleville staff is recommending the rezoning be approved, saying it dovetails with the municipality’s and the provincial government’s desire for a wider variety of housing and more intense development.
The Planning Advisory Committee meets at 5:30 Monday afternoon at city hall.
