A 41-year-old man from Quebec has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of the mother of his six-year-old son.
The suspect was charged at the courthouse in Saint-Jerome, north of Montreal, but he remains in hospital in Ottawa.
An Amber Alert was issued when the boy vanished from Saint-Eustache on Thursday and his mother was found dead in the family home.
The boy and his father were stopped by police in eastern Ontario nearly 24 hours later. (Files from The Canadian Press)
