Fast work from Thurlow ward firefighters kept a tractor fire from spreading to a nearby barn
on the Harmony Road late yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Firefighters arrived at the farm to find the John Deere tractor up in flames. It was destroyed.
Damage to the tractor is estimated at $40,000, while an attached mixer was damaged but may
be repairable.
The cause is believed to be a spark igniting leaking oil and hydraulic fluid. The fire was accidental and no one was injured.
