An annual event aimed at providing free dental care could grow into a foundation in order to help more people in need.
At Quinte West council Monday night, Bev Woods explained how since 2009, the Gift From The Heart project has given away over $1 million in free dental work to seniors, Indigenous people, new immigrants and those living below the poverty line.
Woods, who got the national project off the ground at CFB Trenton, said good oral health is important to health and well-being so she wants to start a foundation.
On Saturday April 07, 2018 Registered Dental Hygienists all across Canada will open their hearts and clinics to provide oral health care to the public who may be financially unable to receive dental hygiene care or who have difficulty accessing dental hygiene treatment at no cost.
Free dental work will be provided on April 7 at Whole Health Dental Hygiene by Jennifer Arbuckle RDH located at 86 Main Street in Brighton.
