Flags at Belleville’s city facilities will be lowered this weekend.
Flags will go to half-staff on Sunday, September 10, for National Firefighters Memorial Day, which is held on the second Sunday in September and honours public safety officers who have died in the line of duty.
The flags will stay down on Monday September 11, as a tribute to those killed in the terrorist attacks on New York City 2001, and a special ceremony will be held at Belleville Fire Station #1 as well.
That ceremony begins at 8:45 a.m. Monday, with a moment of silence and bell ringing and all members of the public are invited to attend.
