The City of Quinte West has invested close to half a million dollars in modernizing its arenas in Trenton, especially at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens, and it’s being recommended ice rental rates go up to help cover some of the costs.
There is a new state of the art media booth at the Community Gardens, upgraded score clocks, WiFi throughout the arena, and a big four-sided video display unit.
Quinte West’s Corporate Finance Committee is recommending council approve upping ice rental fees for organizations that wish to use the video display unit.
Regular fees would apply to those wishing to use only the score clocks for their events.
Rentals could go up $25 an hour for use of the video display, $250 for a tournament or $5,000 for an entire hockey season.
Quinte West council will make the final decision.
