Pickleball players in Brighton will have to get organized before council seriously considers making changes to courts at the Brighton Tennis Club.
The group has been asking for pickleball lines to be painted on the tennis courts, to give them another place to play, other than the Gosport courts which they say are in bad shape.
Councillor Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News, they’ve asked the group to officially organize into a “Brighton Pickleball Club” before moving forward.
He adds that as far as repairs to the courts in Gosport go, he spoke to a group of players this week about why getting organized is important, telling them an official association can make it much easier to get government grants to make facility improvements.
Ostrander noted the success of the Brighton Soccer Club which not only pays to rent the field, but has partnered with the town to get government grants as well, leading to improvements like irrigation and lighting systems.
