The Trenton Golden Hawks are very pleased to announce the commitment of goaltender Chris Janzen to the Clarkson University Golden Knights of NCAA Division 1 for the 2017-18 season.
The 20-year old Pelham, Ont. native posted career numbers with the G-Hawks last season after coming over from the Welland Jr. Canadians of the Greater Ontario Junior B League last season. His 1.98 Goals Against Average and his .927 Save Percentage allowed him to place in the top five amongst OJHL goaltenders in 2016-17. Janzen’s strong play in the Dudley Hewitt Cup on home ice earned him rave reviews and a chance to play in the RBC Cup National Championship in Cobourg.
He also earned many individual accomplishments, including winning OJHL Goaltender of the Month three times, the OJHL Fan Favourite Award and a spot in the Eastern Canada Cup Challenge in Cornwall.
Clarkson University is getting a calming, agile presence in the crease in the form of Janzen. They can also expect him to be a good teammate and be more than willing to learn from his coaches and the older players on the team.
The Golden Hawks would like to congratulate Chris and wish him good luck in his future endeavours.
