A fatality has been confirmed following a three-vehicle collision on the eastbound 401 early Friday morning.
Just before 7 a.m., Frontenac OPP responded to a collision on the highway, just west of the Joyceville Road exit that involved two vehicles and a tractor trailer.
Along with the fatality, the driver of the tractor trailer was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and the tractor trailer driver faces charges.
Highway 401 eastbound is now being detoured at Highway 15 and is expected to stay in place until late this afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, around 1 a.m., Frontenac OPP had responded to another three vehicle collision on the eastbound 401 at mile marker 639. Two vehicles and a tractor trailer were involved in the collision that sent the male driver of the tractor trailer to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of one of the vehicles 55 year old Daniel Thomas Gribben of Gananoque has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
A detour was set up to divert traffic on Highway 401 eastbound at Joyceville Road shortly after the collision.
